tornadojally is the DJ moniker of former Minneapolis radio host Jordan Alamat. He’s a Minneapolis wedding DJ focused on packed dance floors, clean mixing, and creating a night that actually flows.
I'm not a “press play and fade out” wedding DJ. I'm a real DJ, who happens to do weddings. Every set is mixed live, built in real time, and shaped around the room. From the first open dance to the last song of the night, the goal is simple: keep people moving, make sure the energy never drops, and make sure the couple's taste is reflected in what's coming out of the speakers.
Couples who book me are typically looking for a DJ who can read the room, handle transitions smoothly, and avoid the awkward gaps or forced moments that can kill the energy of the party.
With a background in radio and hundreds of weddings behind the decks, Jordan brings both technical skill and a calm, professional presence to every event. You’ll find him behind the booth focused on the crowd, not on gimmicks or cringey songs, to make sure your wedding feels like a real party, not a scripted and generic performance.

There are many DJ's out there yes. But they don't perform like Jordan trust me! The only thing people could talk about after my wedding was how incredible Jordan was. I personally have never been one to stay on the dance floor for the entirety of a dance before but I just could NOT leave my dance floor having Jordan, and our dance floor was filled the entire night. Even our introverted guests were getting low on the dance floor yall.
Something else I love about Jordan is he doesn't just play a set playlist. Not only does he actually DJ but he absolutely knows how to read a room and figure out the demographic of the room and how to get them moving! Which is something I appreciated so much because our wedding had kids, college students, uncles, grandparents, etc. AND we had a cross-cultural wedding. This was something that I was worried I'd have to explain because it can be hard to gauge but Jordan just knew exactly what to do and he really understood the assignment here.
Jordan is not only amazing for your dance floor. He made our ceremony music and sound logistics so smooth. He was so incredible at working with our other musicians and anybody giving speeches. Our guests got so crazy over our grand entrances and introducing speeches because Jordan just knows how to get a crowd going!
Needless to say. I could really say so much more. But in short: if you want a showstopper and HYPE wedding --> hire Jordan. If you want a boring wedding --> don't hire Jordan. So basically = HIRE JORDAN!!! You will not regret it!

Jordan turned the basement of a former nunnery in Amsterdam into a sweaty freak-out for like four hours. Funk hits. Fergalicious. Phoenix. We had it all.
He gave us what we asked for sonically while also, in some instances, saving us from ourselves. Sometimes, Petey Pablo just isn’t what the crowd is responding to. Sometimes you gotta up the tempo and hit em with Mr. Brightside. Above all, you want your guests to have a blast, and that is exactly what Jordan delivered.

We were able to meet with Jordan a few times before our wedding to talk about the vibes that we were hoping for and to create a playlist of songs that we liked which really helped make our dance feel extra personalized! We also really appreciated the way that Jordan helped us prepare for our day by asking the right questions ahead of time so there were no surprises on the day of. Jordan took our input seriously. He played everything we wanted him to and also did NOT play anything we DIDN'T want him to. He reads the room expertly and he plays what people want to hear. He's also flexible and can adapt to the situation; in our case the bride was feeling ill during dinner and Jordan pivoted speeches/dancing/first dance without our guests even noticing.
Overall we cannot recommend Jordan enough. If you care about having a fun, active reception with people on the dance floor there is nobody else you could possibly book.

wanted to put towards our DJ. To be honest, I've never been a wedding where I've loved or really remembered the DJ at all. This was not the case at all with Jordan. From the moment we started working with him, we knew this was the right fit. He had a great, laidback energy about him, but was also really listening to what our expectations for our dance floor were - you can tell he takes his craft seriously and tries very hard to individualize the experience per couple. Any time we had a question leading up to the wedding, he responded back in a timely manner, which was super helpful. But the best part about him was obviously his skills on the day of. When I tell you AT LEAST half of our guests came up to us to tell how much they loved our DJ or commented on it afterwards, I'm not kidding. They had a great reason to be raving too - he was amazing. He really understood how to read the room, engage with the guests, and kept the bops going - one of our biggest regrets was not extending the dance floor for longer because we didn't want the night to end. We also had him be our MC for the night and he was awesome – brought a great energy to the room, but still very natural and authentic. If you're thinking about hiring Jordan, let this be a sign to stop thinking about it and just do it - I promise you won't regret it!

We had family members sing during our ceremony, and he rehearsed with them ahead of time to make sure they felt comfortable. He also helped us choose some of our songs and created special mixes for our parent dances and first dance, which made those moments feel so personal and unique. Throughout the night he was in touch with us to make sure the timing flowed perfectly, and he even brought extra equipment to make sure the sound was great in our space. planning process super easy and was communicative throughout. Once we got to wedding day--even more incredible. We had a last minute hiccup with our 16-year-old niece who was playing violin piece during our ceremony and Jordan turned an almost very stressful sitch into a perfectly timed piece (with an unexpected background track!) during the ceremony. During the rest of the evening, Jordan kept building the energy and vibes and was so, so good with all of the wedding guests - kids, parents, distant aunts - you name it. He also had a tall order for our wedding: we had A LOT of people who wanted to dance that had very different opinions of what “good dancing music” is. We thought he did an awesome job of catering to everyone and keeping the dance floor bumping all night long.
Also fair warning: don’t expect to see your dad much during your reception because he will inevitably be too busy delivering G&Ts to Jordan.

He thoroughly answered all of our questions and gave us honest feedback on what he has seen go well and not so well at other weddings, professionally offered suggestions, and always kept an open line of communication.
